Today “David” invited me to sit at his table during dinner.
Today I received a few messages from people just letting me know they were thinking of me.
Today a nurse brought me a blanket when I was cold waiting while they searched my belongings for “contraband”.
Today I looked out my window and there was a hummingbird.
I’m learning to live in the present, to notice more, to meditate, to be more kind. God is “I am”. I believe when Jesus talked about not worrying about tomorrow, I think he had much more in mind than avoiding negative emotion. I think living in the present means living in peace. Peace has been elusive my whole life.
But today, the present meant that while I was walking I stopped and noticed someone had drawn a smiley face on a small little rock. Imperceptible. A rock among hundreds of rocks. I tried to picture someone stopping and stooping down to draw that. What had happened to their day in that place that made them do that? I’m guessing they had received some kindness…
