Just is…

When someone parks in front of my house.

When a neighbors dog won’t stop barking.

When the 1st Amendment right to gather peacefully is outlawed.

When I just washed my car and it rains.

When someone in front of me sits through a green light and takes off when it turns yellow.

When a store does something stupid and it’s because it’s “policy”. Like it’s a law!

When Batman beat Superman.

When I thought I recorded the game and it didn’t record.

When I actually recorded the game and someone spoils it by saying something.

This week I learned a lot about why I have a heightened sense of justice. There are a lot of people who get upset about injustices. But I have an unusually high sense of justice. These things really bug me. Now I know why.

Someone got away with something when I was 12. It left something undone. Unreconciled. They literally got away with it.

I don’t know how to get past that. I stand on an island that is full of unrest and a serious sense of wanting to right a wrong. The mainland is where there is reconciliation. That is where there is peace. The bridge between the two is sometimes called revenge. It’s sometimes called “justice”. The legal system calls it “distributive justice”, “procedural justice”, “restorative justice” and “retributive justice”. The most common related to righting a wrong are restorative and retributive.

What happened when I was 12 cannot be stored or paid back.

So what is the bridge made of for me to get peace and lower my sense of justice?
