I was a pretty picky eater people would say. Reality was that growing up we didn’t have a lot of options. About 7-10 ingredients and a mix/match of those.
My dad would drive me crazy. When mom would make soup I didn’t like soup. Still don’t. But the way he would mess with me was he would say…
“Well do ya’ like carrots?” Yes dad. “Well do you like potatoes?” Yes dad. “Well do you like celery?” Yes dad. “Well that’s all that’s in there!”
He was asking me about the ingredients for the soup….not the soup!
He never got that concept. 🙂 When you add the ingredients together something entirely different is created.
2020 has many ingredients: Pandemic, lost job, jaw surgery, chest pain, trauma…
Any one of those things are a lot. And a lot of people are dealing with a number of those things.
Bridge builders have to manage stress on a bridge in various ways. When you have compression and tension stress on a bridge, engineers manage it primarily in two ways. Distribute the stress by adding trusses or girders or transfer the stress to other structures such as towers or arches. Why aren’t tunnels through mountains square? Because the weight of the rock above gets more evenly distributed in round construction.
Managing one source of stress is difficult…managing them all at once…the Perfect Storm
The movie starring George Clooney in 2000 describes multiple storms converging on one location to create the Perfect Storm. The captain could manage one storm, but the multiple storms (Perfect Storm) were simply unmanageable. The boat went down.
It was based on a true story.
So many…struggling with so much…multiple storms
Praying for the world tonight…that God will transfer the stress to something stronger than the bridge…
