Norm!…

I’ve been in AZ for about 10 days now and it will probably take another week or so to acclimate but I’m here. I feel like I’ve gone back to college though because my living room is two folding chairs and my bed is an air mattress. I work in a coffee shop most of the day and I don’t cook. Next thing you know I’ll be walking around with my hat on backwards.

ummm…no…

As I walk into the coffee shop every morning at 7, Kendrick says, “Chuck!”.

It reminds me of that old TV series, Cheers. Every time Norm would walk into the bar the rest of the folks in the bar would yell, “Norm!”

The theme song to cheers says, “Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. Where they’re always glad you came. You want to go where people know, where troubles are all the same, you want to go where everybody knows your name”

Being here all alone…that song rings true. I’m so grateful for a simple hello every morning from a young barista named Kendrick.

If you’re wondering whether you should say hi to someone…do it. You never know the difference that simple gesture can make.
