Too Soon…

Recently I made a joke to a friend about when he was a guest and hit such a bad shot at a country club that it went up into the patio of where the members were eating and drinking. He was asked not to return.

I joked about it…he said, “too soon”. 🙂

I went to the cleaners to pick up my shirts and the lady spoke very little english but I understood clearly when she said quite harshly…”too soon!”

I went to my favorite coffee shop and I apparently got there before it was open and I pulled on the door and nearly pulled my shoulder out of its socket. I was “too soon”.

There was another “too soon” this week.

When we had our first daughter, Mandy, we lived next door to some really nice people. They had a son right about the time we had our daughter. They grew up next to each other and went to the same school and played together all growing up. Even went to their senior prom together. Mandy and he are 22.

Yesterday there was a van full of college golf kids…driving along and a truck crossed the center line and hit them head on. 7 of 9 of them didn’t make it. One of the boys that didn’t make it was a 22 year old named Jackson Zinn. Our next door neighbor of 10 years. Mandy’s senior prom date and childhood friend.

She is now dealing with something she shouldn’t have to deal with at this age. His parents and siblings are dealing with something that no family should ever have to deal with. I don’t understand. I hope I never understand.

There is hope…he had given his life to Christ and so his fate was sealed. He is with his savior and he is…home.

But make no mistake. Despite the hope that his life is really just beginning, there are no words to describe the horrific event and the aftermath of all affected.

It’s devastating, horrific, tragic, sad, heart breaking.

It’s….

Too Soon
